六集纪录片《人参》于2013年1月开始启动筹备，旨在通过寻找人与人参相互依存的坐标，以一座城池、一个传说、一座山林、一碗参汤为载体，细腻地向观众讲述人参这个物种的存在与自然、与人类的关系，透视出长白山脉繁衍生息的人类的内涵价值和精神品格。该片精致而充满意境的镜头风格，配合含蓄内敛的解说语言，从而传达出意味深长的长白山神韵悠远而厚重的主题。 　　据了解，为全面生动反映长白山人参文化，摄制组进行了大量的前期咨询和田野调查，遍寻省内、国内权威的人参专家和民间学者40余人，从历史、生物、地质、医药、文化等各个门类深入地了解人参；通过图书馆、档案馆、互联网及个人收藏等途径收集了近600万字的宝贵资料；寻访了三十几位放山人，深入原始森林，参与放山全过程。拍摄包括采挖、种植、祭祀、节日、相关民俗等内容。拍摄地涉及到国内外的人参主产区、人参故事传说的流传地、古往今来人参最为畅销的地区、大中小型的人参加工企业。记录的足迹遍及中国的吉林、辽宁、山东、山西、江苏、浙江、北京、上海以及韩国的首尔、锦山、咸阳等21个城市。采访了包括专家学者、老把头、人参文化传承人、参农、经营者、食用者等近百位人物。纪实、空镜、采访拍摄素材约6000分钟，同时运用了情景再现等拍摄手法，使用了一批先进拍摄设备，确保了该片的质量。 　　该片由吉林电视台制作，于2015年5月4日在央视九套黄金档首播。这是继《长白山》和《东北抗联》两部大型纪录片成功在央视播出后，吉林省又一部宣传吉林推介长白山文化的诚意之作。
